C&C 6.18.11

There’s always something for everyone at C&C…

Clean Meteor Grey 997.2 GT3. When these first hit I thought the rear wing was over the top for a “non-rs” but it’s definitely grown on me. My homie AW would like this one…subtle killer.

John’s (HH) ride – a nice blend of VIP while still keeping it gangsta in my opinion. 22’s, indonesian style dump, a splash of lowrider all in one.

John’s homie – Jay’s ride | former HH feature. Premier 4509 kit on a Vantage. Love this car. I would rock this all day with a Lee’s in the cupholder and deuces out the window.

5Axis built audio setup, you might have seen it at CES in the Pionner booth. Making babies cry on the daily…note the vent integration / so badass.

Ellis, the superdog getting in my shot, followed by my niece – I totally deserve this since I’m always getting in peoples viewfinders when they’re trying to shoot…must run in the family.

Nice 997TT with some Champion add-ons.

Forza 4 Event

A few weeks back “The Great One” aka Mr. Jon Sibal asked if I wanted to checkout the Forza 4 release event at the upcoming E3. Although I’m not a “gamer” I do like driving sims and who’s gonna turn down Jon right? LOL. As it turns out, a mutual friend of ours was hosting and asked me if I had any cars available that could be used at the event. We went back and forth a bit and settled on 2 cars I had immediate availability with – A Murcielago and a Bentley ( I <3 my fam). Incidentally, a buddies GTR was being used as well so I knew I wouldn’t be stuck alone LOL. We arranged transport, rental details and got the ball rolling.

The event was on a Wed nite, which meant that I needed to be at LA Live on Wed for transport arrivals, back in LA for the event at 8PM and then in LA for third time for transport pickup! This ended up working out to my advantage (or that’s the way I’m looking at it) since I wanted to get my car past the 1200 break-in anyways LOL. One thing I didn’t consider into the budget was 12MPG LOL. Anyways, the cars arrived safely from the transport at the scheduled 8AM delivery; despite some gate issues on the event deck. I’ve driven my fair share of expensive cars, particularly in a show setting- but it’s still a bit unnerving to maneuver a 6-spd Murcielago around an SLS and Koenigsegg and the like LOL.

Once the cars were placed, I decided to bail back down to the OC, have lunch with a buddy in Cerritos then head back for dinner w/my wife. I figured that if I leave late enough, I might not hit the dreaded LA traffic on the way back. For once the traffic gods worked with me and I was able to get from Irvine to DTLA in 40 minutes! I invited my old buddy Phil (yes, he’s OLD and he is an OLD friend LOL!) along as well since I had a +1.

NOTE: All the shots were taken with either my iPhone or my POS-P&S. I didn’t want to be “that guy” (for once) rolling around with full camera gear and most of my friends were shooting anyways so I knew I’d have decent coverage available. If the pic doesn’t have my logo on it, it was borrowed from the respective photographer.

From 5 to 1 (Not Kobes’ vs. Wades’ rings) – Porsche Centerlock Conversion.

I had to get some kind of Basketball jab in there (especially for those that know I’m a Laker fan) – and couldn’t put LeBust on there because of course he has ZERO RINGS…Congrats to Dallas on the real though. I’ve always admired Mark Cuban’s entrepreneurship and they definitely deserved this win. Okay enough, this isn’t Sportscenter…

A few months ago (like I always say, I’ve been busy!) we completed the first stage of Project 997TT Cab. I hand picked the rounds of mods for this car based around the idea that it should be clean, a daily driver, subtle – but unique enough to stand out to those in the know. That being said – the first stage consisted of:

The “basic” mods were a slam dunk for install. I’ve been in the aftermarket / tuning industry for over 15 years now so I have a pretty good idea where and where NOT to take a vehicle, but when it comes to a full centerlock conversion, particularly on a rather expensive vehicle – I wanted only the best. I reached out to my friends at BBi who are Porsche specialists and spoke with Betim and Joey. They’ve been working on Porsche’s for a minute and after speaking with Joey I really felt comfortable that they were the right ones for the install – After all, they do work on ALMS cars so they’re very familiar with the centerlock setup. 🙂

We used my wifes Cayenne to transport the parts to BBi. Appropriate right? LOL.

Fitting wheels and tires separately proved to be a bit of a challenge, but we were able to work it out.

We had to use some space in the TT Cab as well LOL. TechArt Spoiler sitting passenger.

We arrived at BBi and Joey took a quick inventory to make sure we had all the parts necessary for the conversion. The OEM Centerlock Conversion kit was purchased from Suncoast (sincerely the cheapest place around to buy OEM Parts) they did a great job of ensuring we had the PCCB specific kit as well as making sure all part#’s were accurate and fitment was correct.

I opted to go with the GT3RS wheels because I prefer the look over the standard Turbo S centerlocks – also, how often do you see a TTCab with GT3RS wheels?? Not so much 🙂

I’m not going to provide a step by step (nor could I honestly) so here’s a few shots of the break down.

Joey’s got forearms like Wolverine LOL from working on cars everyday.

Throughout the breakdown Joey explained what he was doing, he really really really knows his stuff. Sort of like me drinking a Lee’s iced coffee. Deliberate, detailed, focused = in the zone.

Attention to detail: Once Joey separated the parts he dropped them into an ultrasonic cleaning machine. Not needed but always nice to know that things like this are taken care of.

I can’t say enough about the team at BBi. Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve been in the industry for sometime and I’ve heard and seen it all – these guys are the real deal. They walk the walk and talk the talk.

Saturday Car Bonanza…

Hit C&C, HRE Open House and the Encore 5Axis charity event on Saturday…let’s start with C&C.

One of my buddies (you may have recognized his original 458 from a shoot almost a year ago) scooped up another 458, this time white…so it was yet another chance to get the homies together and hit C&C. I feel bad for my neighbors whenever this happens since it’s always an early 7:30AM call at my house and you’ve got loud cars and guys smoking and laughing on my driveway, all good though – they’ve never complained and I think I’m usually a decent neighbor. LOL.

Like I said in a previous post, they bring EVERYTHING out to C&C nowadays. “Not of this world” – was waiting for this guy to just gun it and run up the hill onto the 5 Fwy south…

Trading babies for SuperLeggera’s…totally worth it.

MBZ was the feature marquee – checkout the new CLS63. I see some Maybach DNA on those fenders…and the guy walking by apparently smells something bad.

My other buddy Kev brought out his new Panerai 339…and asks me to take a pic of it with the 458. Don’t worry, I got approval to set the watch on the car first LOL.

Then I got this “brilliant” idea to take a shot of his watch in the rear view camera…I say “brilliant” because I wasn’t aware that I’d have to start the car. Awesome that my friends trust me with their new rides, but not awesome to have to stick it in reverse and hold the brake while telling Kev to hold his wrist still. LOL.
Hilarity ensued because:
1. Everyone got a pic of me starting up and sitting in the Ferrari (I’m a Lambo guy)
2. We looked like a bunch of idiots playing with expensive toys.
3. Kev couldn’t keep his wrist still.
