Disney Ripped this off - Neuschwanstein Castle

NOTE: This is a pic I took at Miniatur World of the Neuschwanstein Castle. I preferred this image since it the angle shows its similarity to Disney’s castles…

The title is sort of clickbait admittedly, but Disney did get “inspired” by Neuschwantstein Castle.

On the way back from Italy, via the Alps - we stopped off for a “non-automotive” break at Neuschwanstein Castle in Schwangau, Germany.

Entering the parking area - def a tourist spot to checkout with the fam.

Built by the “Mad King” (GOT reference!) King Ludwig II built this strictly because he could. He apparently almost bankrupted the country during his reign as well - having become the king at 19.

A 13Euro ticket gives you access to the castle and a scheduled guided tour

The castle itself sits way up the hill as you can see, so there are only 2 options to get to it:
1. Walk
2. Horse and Carriage

Well, you know how I roll…LOL! (At least on the way up)

They’re constantly restoring portions of the castle and its surroundings.

Snow White’s Castle and Cinderella’s castle were based heavily on this style and as a result Disney still pays a licensing fee to Neuschwanstein as a result. The same thing prohibited me from taking pics inside the castle (even after paying the ticket/tour fee) which sort of sucks if you ask me.

A model inside the Castle - I wasn’t supposed to take this pic, but whatever LOL.

Pretty cool stop especially for families - the tour itself was pretty quick, so don’t expect much. It’s actually not that “old” (same age as the eiffel tower) but a nice break in between countries if you happen to be driving thru.
